Services & Clinics

All areas of the RAH are assigned a Level (number) and Section (letter).

The location for your visit should be included in your referral letter.

We always recommend visitors go to Level 3 (ground level) of the hospital, then start your journey.

Each Section (letter) has been assigned its own colour and theme, and has a dedicated lift. Use the Section lifts, that are clearly marked, to go to the Level you need.

Example journey

You are visiting general surgery at 5F. This means you need to go to Level 5 in Section F

  1. Go to Level 3 (ground floor) first, as your starting point
  2. Go to the Section F (green) dedicated lift on Level 3 (ground floor)
  3. Take the lift to Level 5
  4. When you arrive at Level 5, you will see signs on the walls to say you are at 5F
  5. Follow further signage to general surgery, your destination.

If you need help, our friendly volunteers stationed around the building, will be happy to help your find your way or escort you to your destination.

Sections, colours and themes

Each level in the hospital has its own distinct themes, signified by the Section letter, theme art and colours to help staff, patients and visitors navigate their way throughout the hospital.

The themes are:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander: Section A
  • Flora: Sections B, C and F
  • Cultural Diversity: Section D
  • Earth: Section E
  • Water: Section G.
