The Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) is committed to helping you communicate with our staff so you can make informed decisions about your healthcare.
checkViewport(), 100)"> Interpreting services
The RAH offers interpreting services for patients in over 140 languages.
Highly qualified professional interpreters provide services to facilitate communication between you and your treatment team, in person or over the phone.
Auslan (Australian sign language) interpreters are also available for patients with a hearing impairment.
While you are welcome to bring your partner, relative, or friend to your appointments for support, we ask that you not use them as interpreters. Trained interpreters are here to ensure you understand the medical information discussed with you, respecting your need for accurate and professional communication.
All interpreting and cultural support services are provided free of charge.
Access Hub: Helping you connect
Access Hub provides information and services to help people who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech communication difficulty, to make a phone call or connect online.
You can access and learn about services here, as well as other ways to connect.

If you require an interpreter at an outpatient appointment, another medical appointment, or during your stay at the hospital, phone the interpreter service in advance.
Ensure your GP or referring doctor books the interpreter when referring you to any hospital service.
Interpreters and cultural support are available for all Aboriginal consumers.
The Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health and Wellbeing Hub can arrange an interpreter or Aboriginal Health Practitioner to support you at your appointment or during your stay in hospital.
