We provide evaluation of hearing function and associated disorders of the ear and assessment.

We provide high quality, patient centred care to inpatients and outpatients, over the age of 18.
We assess individuals who are experiencing:
- decreased/changed hearing
- damaged hearing as a result of a medical event, such as head trauma, neurological pathology or ototoxic drug use
- significantly distressing tinnitus
- communication difficulties associated with hearing loss
- balance issues, dizziness and vertigo.
Audiologists are university graduates with extensive and ongoing postgraduate training in hearing sciences and human communications, and are eligible for membership of Audiology Australia Ltd.
Our service has a commitment to staff development, teaching and training, quality improvement, clinical research and evolution of services, in line with contemporary, evidence-based practice.

Hearing aid donations
Donations of good quality, modern, behind-the-ear hearing aids are always welcome.
Low income Health Care Card holders can access low cost or second hand hearing aids through the Audiology Department with the assistance of the Da Costa Benevolent Fund.

Allied health services accept GP, private specialists, allied health and other health professional referrals.
Once your referral has been received it will be triaged according to clinical urgency.
If your referral is accepted, you will either:
- receive a letter, phone call or text message confirming your appointment time, date and location
- receive a letter confirming you have been waitlisted for an appointment.
If the referral is declined, your GP or referring medical practitioner will be notified.

- general outpatient enquiries.
If you need to cancel or change your appointment time, let us know as soon as possible.

A written referral is required prior to an appointment being issued. Emailed or faxed referrals are preferred.
Referrals should include:
- patient personal details - address, date of birth, contact phone number, medicare number, pension card etc.
- reason for referral
- relevant clinical history of the patient
- list of current medications
- current treatment regimen
- recent relevant test results – x-ray, pathology, etc
- referrer's name and contact details.
