Services & Clinics

Learn more about accommodation options for patients and visitors nearby to the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH).

Onsite visitor accommodation

Visitor accommodation has been built into general inpatient rooms enabling a relative or carer to stay overnight when it is in the patient’s best interests.

Each general inpatient room features a visitor bed. Access to the day bed must be approved by the senior nursing staff on each ward as there may be times when access to this bed is not possible.

Linen packs, including sheets and a pillow for use on the day bed are available to hire, with proceeds going to the RAH Research Fund.

External accommodation options

Patients and visitors can find a range of accommodation options close to the hospital. Please note that the RAH does not take any responsibility for information on external websites.

Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS)

The Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS) is a state-wide subsidy program that provides money to pay for some travel, escort and accommodation costs for rural and remote South Australians who travel over 100 km each way to see a specialist.

Aboriginal supported accommodation

The Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health and Wellbeing Hub is available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers across the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN), to help find culturally appropriate accommodation near the RAH.

Aboriginal health practitioners can also provide assistance in finding, booking and organising transport to and from the hospital.
