ICU nursing team

The Royal Adelaide Hospital intensive care unit nursing team consists of over 450 qualified intensive care clinicians, providing collaborative nursing care within a multidisciplinary team.

The nursing team is equally divided between four wings within the intensive care unit and are supported by:

  • Nurse Unit Managers (NUMs)
  • Educators
  • Nurse managers
  • Nurse Lead.

The complex care needs of our patients and the quaternary services provided at the RAH ICU has seen the development of specialist roles within the nursing team to manage the following ICU services:

  • Medical Emergency Response Services (MER)
  • Outreach Services beyond ICU
  • ECMO coordinator
  • End of Life Coordinator
  • Research Coordinator
  • Survive & Thrive support role, for our post-ICU peer support group.

We take great pride in providing holistic care, which is achieved through medical and allied health teams working collaboratively to provide our patients with the support they need during their ICU stay.
