Krish graduated MBBS from The Tamil Nādu Dr MGR Medical University, Madras, India in 2000. He attained his Fellowship of College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) and Doctorate in Medicine (MD) in Anaesthesiology in India in 2005 followed by Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (FCICM) in 2009 and the European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine (EDIC) in 2010.
He has Fellowships from the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA) in 2019 and the Australasian College of Health Service Management (FACHSM) in 2019.
He attained Master of Public Health (University of Adelaide) and Master of Philosophy (University of Adelaide) in 2020
Krish was appointed as Head of Unit in 2020.
Mark Plummer MBBS, PhD FCICM, is an academic intensivist and current NHMRC Emerging Leader fellow.
His research interests include neurocritical care, sepsis, glycaemic control and clinical trials. He is on the ANZICS-CTG management committee and the steering committee for several ANZICS-CTG sponsored multi-centre trials.
He has received over $11 million in Category One funding from the MRFF, NHMRC Ideas Grant and Investigator Grant Schemes.
He is enthusiastic about sharing his passion for critical care research and is experienced in supervising PhD and Higher Degree candidates.
Dr Luke Collett is a graduate of University of Adelaide, and east coast migrant, returning to South Australia in February 2019 to work as a consultant in the RAH ICU.
His interests include:
- advanced cardiac and respiratory support
- education, teaching, in-situ simulation
- health informatics
- travelling around South Australia.
Dr Nick Edwards MBBS FRACP FCICM, graduated MBBS from University of Adelaide in 1990, attained FRACP in 1998 and FFICANZCA (now FCICM) in 1999. He initially worked as a Trauma Specialist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital from 2000 to 2002, before being appointed as a Staff Specialist in ICU that year.
He is a current Supervisor of Training (CICM) and Examiner for the CICM Fellowship Examination. He is the Convenor of South Australian Intensive Care Fellowship Exam Course and a BASIC Instructor.
Nick is a Clinical Senior Lecturer (Anaesthesia and Intensive Care), University of Adelaide. He has acted as the RAH ICU COVID Lead and served on the RAH COVID Clinical Operations Committee 2020-2023. Nick divides work between RAH ICU and Adelaide Intensive Care Services (Private).
He is a big fan of the Adelaide Crows, Tottenham and a good cellar.
Michael's qualifications include FCICM, BSc(Hons), GCCritCareEcho, GCHealthProfEd.
He is currently serving as the Chair of the South Australian State CICM Regional Committee and as Chair of the South Australian State ANZCIS Committee.
He is a Supervisor of Training (CICM), a current CICM Fellowship examiner and is the Royal Adelaide Hospital ECMO service medical coordinator.
Michael's interests include strengthening the SA ICU community, critical care medicine, education, ultrasonography in critical care, ECMO service delivery, exercise and being busy.
A/Prof Arthas Flabouris, MBBS, MD, FANZCA, FCICM, FACAsM, GradDipAvMed, PostGrad Dip PeriOp Echo, is a Staff Specialist, Intensive Care Unit and Medical Lead for Medical Emergency Response Service, Royal Adelaide Hospital.
He is also a Clinical Associate Professor, University of Adelaide, providing clinical teaching and supervision of undergraduates through to higher degree students, in both medical and nursing streams. He has extensive clinical experience within adult quaternary intensive care units and managing hospital patients who have acutely deteriorated.
Interests include:
- managing major trauma
- acute resuscitation
- prior experience with pre-hospital retrieval services.
Research is focused on:
- health services
- clinical systems, their evaluation and implementation, particularly with respect to critical care and acute clinical deterioration.
Outside of the ICU, he was (previously) a soccer player, referee and coach.

James Malycha MBBS FCICM PhD is Chair of the CALHN Critical Care and Perioperative Informatics Committee and a Principle Investigator on the CALHN Critical Care Informatics Project.
His interest lies is enabling high quality critical care informatics and artificial intelligence to improve patient care.
James works across both the RAH and TQEH as a consultant to the intensive care unit.
Dr Aniket Nadkarni, MBBS FCICM GCCE ClinDipPallMed, graduated from medical school in 2010 from the University of New South Wales and attained Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine in 2021.
He has a strong interest in clinical education for intensive care, with clinical fellowship College governance roles and research in innovative education modalities for ICU training.
His research interests include glycaemia in critical care and neurocritical care. He is a strong interest in advocating ICU colleagues and supporting the local ICU community.
Professor Gerry O'Callaghan is a Senior Consultant in the ICU at RAH, as well as Clinical Professor at the School of Public Health, University of Adelaide and Adjunct Professor, University of South Australia.
Undergraduate studies were completed in Dublin, Ireland, with postgraduate fellowships in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine in Ireland, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Interests include:
- resource utilisation and system design
- health policy development evaluation and implementation
- sustainable service delivery in intensive care medicine/acute care
- clinical practice improvement
- health reform specifically the use of educational, interdisciplinary and team-based strategies to improve patient centred outcomes and consumer engagement.
He has also had local and national experience in clinician engagement, health reform, development of policy and clinical guidelines and subsequent implementation in organ and tissue donation and transplantation.
Amy Sangüesa, MBBS, BSc(Biomed), GDipEd (Clin), FCICM, graduated from Flinders University, training between NT and SA.
In 2022 she completed a Fellowship, working at both the RAH and Alice Springs Hospital.
